Reduce Nikon D40/D60 Shutter Release Lag
Nikon website mentions the shutter lag is only a split a second. Sound
fast? Actually not really. A split a second is equal to 200 milliseconds. which is average speed. Compared to Nikon D80 which is also can be considered an advanced entry level, it has 80 milliseconds shutter lag.
I have both of them and did few test shoots, with all the same setting and same lens, and same lighting condition.
My setting was:
ISO Auto, Min shutter speed 1/25, Max ISO 1600. lens: 18-200 VR.
Result:
D80 picture taken at 1/15, ISO 1600, not blur.
D60 picture taken at 1/8, ISO 1600, picture a bit blurry due to longer shutter.
In theory, they suppose to have the same result, as they both have a same sensor, and same setting. But apparently D60 always took longer to capture the image which result a blurry photo. So, how to make faster then? It’s just a simple trick actually.
When set your Auto ISO, set the Min Shutter Speed to 1/60, Max ISO 1600. And then I took pictures again with my D60.
The result:
Picture is taken at 1/15, ISO 1600, no more blurry picture. Both pictures taken from D80 and D60, display same data. Perfect, no more blurry photo!
Don’t worry about the High ISO, Nikon handles High ISO very well.
