Apple iPhone OS 3.0
From Supertino, California on March 17, Apple has announced the new version of iPhone, coming soon this summer. It is said will have 100 more features than the current one. iPhone OS 3.0 is finally bringing almost all the features you ever wanted on your iPhone.
What’s new in version 3.0?
• Copy & Paste
Now you can copy and paste text by double tap over the text, this works across applications. In case you accidentally paste something you didn’t want to paste, just shake your iPhone to undo it. You can also select multiple photos, cut and paste too.
• Landscape keyboard.
If you have big thumbs, writing email, SMS, notes will be easier, Apple has added the landscape keyboard mode. Just turn your iPhone 90 degres, the keyboard will form in landscape.
• Multimedia messaging.
This is one of most of us waiting for, MMS. The new MMS function will allow you to send image, audio files, vcard, and hopefully videos too.
• File Sharing Between iPhones
You can share and swap vcard, photo documents between iPhones over Wi-Fi with direct peer to peer connection. No word about sharing musics.
• Stereo A2DP Bluetooth
You will be able to pair your iPhone 3.0 with a stereo Bluetooth A2DP device, like headphones or speakers.
• Auto Login Wifi
Just like a normal Apple Computer, iPhone will pick up wi-fi signal and login automatically.
• New Search
Now you can search to all of key applications, starting with Mail. You can search from, to, subject, and all headers. If the message isn’t on your iPhone, you can continue that search on the server.
• Voice Memo
Obvious enough, to record a voice memo for your schedule, lectures, your girlfriend voice, etc.
• Turn-by-Turn Directions
Enable developer to build apps like a GPS apps with turn by turn direction.
• Push Notification
Allows developers to send push notifications of updates without the cost of running the app in the background without draining the battery. Apple said it just use around 20% compared with 80% battery drains on other mobile devices with push notification enabled.
How much?
iPhone OS 3.0 will be a free upgrade to all iPhone users, including the first generation (not all features will be supported in the first generation, like Stereo Bluetooth support). iPod touch users will be able to but it for $US9.95.
