Here we can find various kinds of agate, like Yameni honey and fossils. Besides agate, also sold here with the type of gemstones and precious stones amethyst emeralds and sapphires.

“I sell various types of stone, especially agate,” said Muhammad Sirajudin when met at his stall.

Malioboro tip region is indeed a sales center for eye amethyst ring in Jogjakarta, especially agate. Here there are 25 merchants who held the agate wares starting at 8:00 to 22:00 pm.

Agate was brought in by traders from Sukabumi and Pacitan. Traders always bring agate once a month at a price of Rp.80,000 per score (20 pieces) for honey agate and Rp.45,000 Yemeni fossil per score.

“Today, virtually agate sales doldrums,” said M. Sirajudin.

According to the man who was born in this Pamekasan, Madura in 1979, the turnover has been quiet for few months already. “Turnover of our revenue was only Rp. 2,500,000 per month. It is different from past years which are busy. The years before, in one day if it’s really crowded turnover can reach Rp. 1 million per day. Although the turnover for selling stones like this can not be ascertained, said M. sirajudin.

In addition, the weather is also a major constraint. during the rainy season, business can be certainly quiet.
The buyers usually come directly by themselves. Most buyers are local people. Besides locals, foreign tourists were also much interested, though not as many as locals.  Agate continue to be preferred by foreign tourists because it is a typical stone of Java.
