Unlike circumcision in men which clearly brings benefits, including preventing the occurrence of infection and cancer, female circumcision has no health benefits, which are actually harmful and can be at risk of death.
“Circumcision for women is not any good at all. Therefore, there is no medical school that taught circumcision for women. No matter which female circumcision is, it is considered extremely dangerous. They range from surgery to anesthesia, which The most severe of circumcision can cause death, “said Dr. Budi Artha Susila Duarsa, M Kes, from the Institute for Population and Gender Studies University YARSI on the sidelines of the launch of the book Female Circumcision: From the Viewpoint of Social, Cultural, Health, and Religion, Tuesday ( 27/07/2010) in Jakarta.
Female circumcision according to the World Health Organization (WHO) is divided into four.
Type 1, which cut all parts of the clitoris (the part of the body like a penis in males).
Type 2, cut off part of the clitoris.
Type 3, stitching or narrowing the vaginal opening (infibulation) and,
Type 4, pierced, scratched the tissue around the vaginal opening, or put something into the vagina for the purpose memperkencang bleeding or narrowing of the vagina.
“Because the clitoris plays a significant role in increasing sexual pleasure a woman. In addition, through the clitoris, excretion glands can occur in the vagina,” said Dr. Artha.
The location of clitoris is surrounded by the nerve causes it to be highly sexually sensitive.
“Eliminating the clitoris will reduce the sensitivity of women to sexual stimulation. Clitoris also affect vaginal lubrication. The more lubrication in the vagina, women will increasingly be ready when the penis is inserted. If there is no clitoris, the vagina is dry and the entry of the penis will cause vaginal pain which raised the fear in women for the next act of intercourse, “said Dr. Artha.
The same thing happens if taken is infibulation. Labia minora (outer skin) is also filled with the nerve that makes this part is sensitive to sexual stimulation. Like clitoris, labia minora cut will also make women less sensitive to sexual stimulation.
“Everything was difficult for women to achieve orgasm. Tailoring the vaginal opening will inhibit the entry of the penis. The pain experienced by women would be terrible and if the penis successfully penetrated, will cause bleeding,” said Dr. Artha.
The high risk of death in female circumcision makes the Indonesian government strictly forbids female circumcision because it violates the Act on Violence against Women.
Similar regulations also apply to the Egyptian parliament approved the law on the prohibition of female circumcision. For those who violate will be fined 185 dollars to 900 dollars and imprisonment of three months imprisonment and two years. However, in Asia, the practice of circumcision itself is still done in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Malaysia.
Short-term impact on female circumcision:
1. Hemorrhage resulting in shock or death
2. Infection of pelvic organs leading to sepsis
3. Tetanus causes death
4. Gangrene which can cause death
5. Headaches caused tremendous shock
6. Urine retention due to swelling and blockage in the urethra.
Long-term impacts are:
1. Prolonged pain during sex
2. The penis can not enter the vagina so that it requires surgery
3. Sexual dysfunction (unable to achieve orgasm during sex)
4. Hematocolpos cause menstrual dysfunction (accumulation of menstrual blood in the vagina), hematometra (accumulation of menstrual darh in the womb), and hematosalpinx (accumulation of menstrual blood in the fallopian tubes)
5. Chronic urinary tract infections
6. Urinary incontinence (can not stop urinating)
7. It could happen abscess, dermoid cysts, and keloid (scar tissue hardens).

It’s basically nonsense. The two are roughly equivalent. Clearly there must be some medical benefit to cutting off parts of a female’s genitalia. Perhaps we have still to figure out exactly where to cut and how much to realise the benefits, but let’s do the research and figure this out. If it’s good to hack off bits of a man’s penis, then let’s find out what to hack off a woman’s genitals to make her healthier.
“Because the clitoris plays a significant role in increasing sexual pleasure a woman.”
And the foreskin plays a similar role in men.
