Stretch marks or streaks are pinkish colored stripes on the skin. Eventually, these pink lines will turn into white lines. Stretch marks appear because the skin stretch and elasticity of the skin had not adequately handle the stretching that occurs.

In most pregnant women, stretch marks can not be avoided. It usually appears during 4-5 months of pregnancy. When stretching occurs, the appearance of stretch marks or streaks are usually accompanied by intense itching. If scratched too much, it can cause sores on the skin. However, the appearance of stretch marks depends on the elasticity of skin of each person. If someone has an elastic skin, the pregnancy and thereafter will not arise stretchmarks. Typically, this is genetic. If your mother does not have stretch marks, maybe you can avoid this problem also.

It’s a natural thing, because pregnant women experience abdominal enlargement as a sign of the growing fetus in the womb. Pregnant women are also typically experienced a significant increase in weight. On average, a pregnant  woman will gain  minimum of 10 kg of weight. The  stretches will appear on the abdomen, also on the arms, breasts, hips, thighs, and buttocks. Stretch marks also may occur in someone who previously had become overweight and underweight.

In pregnant women who have given birth, the lines will fade after the baby is born, but generally can not disappear 100% due tear has occurred in the subcutaneous tissue. That is, why the presence of stretch marks to be something concern for pregnant women.

Preventing Stretch Mark
To prevent or minimize stretch marks, you can try the following tips:

Increase of skin elasticity of the body
You do this by taking vitamins and minerals that can make your skin elastic. Or, in a natural way, you can increase the consumption of vegetables, fruit and drink water.

Keep the skin to stay moist
Apply lotion to the skin. Or you can use anti-stretch mark cream specifically made for pregnant women. These creams are usually more humid than the usual cream. Start applying the cream in early pregnancy, since the belly is still small and has not stretched so much yet .

Care after birth
After giving birth, you can keep using the cream or use olive oil or sandalwood oil to moisturize and reduce stretch marks. Only, if it had occurred, it is usually rather difficult to disappear altogether.
However, this should not make you lose your confidence. With good early treatment, stretch marks can be avoided or minimised.
